Derin Adelegan and Ayodele Ogundipe founded Real Afro Unity in 2023 to give people across the diaspora a meaningful way back to their heritage.
Co-FounderDerin co-founded Real Afro Unity from a belief that heritage is best understood through shared experience and authentic connection. Derin leads the organization's vision and the relationships that make its journeys and programs possible, across the diaspora and in Nigeria.
Co-Founder & PresidentAyo leads brand development, digital systems, media strategy, and growth for Real Afro Unity. A New York-born entrepreneur with deep Yoruba roots, he builds organizations around family, legacy, and long-term community prosperity.
Donations to Real Afro Unity are kept separate from Homecoming trip payments, and every payment is labeled so you know exactly what it is for.
We label each program as active, in development, or a future vision, and we don't present hoped-for outcomes as results.
We will publish governance, financial, and impact information here as it is prepared and approved for public release.
